Wright made 18 appearances for Middlesex before joining Essex

Essex youngster Chris Wright has signed a new deal keeping him at the county until the end of the 2011 season.

Wright, 23, joined in 2007 after 18 first-class appearances for Middlesex.

Essex coach Paul Grayson said: "Chris contributed with bat and ball in 2008. A great amount of potential exists with Chris both for this season and beyond."

Wright said: "We have established ourselves as one of the best one-day teams; the challenge now is to improve in the County Championship."
