Essex captain Ronnie Irani feels their pre-season tour of the Middle East is going well, after Thursday's 255-run victory over a Fly Emirates XI. "I was very sceptical before coming out here but I've been so impressed by Dubai and the cricket facilities it offers," he told the club's website.
"Most of the squad have been given a run-out. Preparations are going nicely.
"Playing conditions have been perfect and the opposition has been much better than on previous overseas tours."
The first game of the tour had seen Irani's side beat a UAE/UAE Academy side by 171 runs.
The tour also includes a match against English county rivals Sussex in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
