Plunkett is only six short of 50 wickets for the season
Durham paceman Liam Plunkett has revealed the target for the county now is to crown their County Championship win by completing the season unbeaten.
Plunkett and his team-mates need only to avoid defeat at Worcestershire this week to complete the feat - the first time since Warwickshire in 2004.
"To go through the season unbeaten is a great achievement," he told BBC Tees.
"It'll be nice at the end of the year to know we were champions and deserved to be without being beaten all year."
In the absence of England players such as Graham Onions and Steve Harmison this summer, Plunkett's services as a frontline bowler have been valuable alongside those of Callum Thorp and Mitch Claydon in the defence of Durham's title.
Plunkett's tally of wickets thus far stands at 44 and the Middlesbrough-born paceman hopes that Worcestershire's New Road can be the venue for him to make it to 50 wickets for the season.
"I need to try to get the next one in the morning, and then pick up a few in the second dig and hopefully I can do it," he added.
Plunkett has played 84 first class matches for Durham, notching 258 wickets in the process.
