Claydon took 5-26 in the defeat of Nottinghamshire on Sunday
Durham all-rounder Mitchell Claydon believes a first double over Nottinghamshire this season is evidence of progress in Twenty20 cricket.
Claydon, 26, notched the winning runs in last Monday's win at Trent Bridge before taking five wickets in Sunday's defeat of the county at the Riverside.
"We turned up fresh and pulled it off and that's what we've got to do (in Twenty20)," he told BBC Newcastle.
"We need to win the next few games, end up at the top and keep doing well."
Claydon's form in short-form cricket this season has been impressive, with both bat and ball.
And the former Yorkshire player believes he and his team-mates must build on their batting displays in particular if they are to progress from their Twenty20 Cup group.
"We knew if we got a 170 or 160-plus score then with our bowling attack we can win any Twenty20 game," he said.
"The games we've been involved in we've only got lower scores but if you can set that bigger total as soon as you get a one or two wickets the pressure's right back on them.
"If they need 10 runs an over the new batsman will come in and think 'I need a boundary straight away' and that's hard to do whoever you are."
Durham face Yorkshire at Headingley on Tuesday in the Twenty20 Cup.
