Durham all-rounder Ian Blackwell is hopeful of notching more big scores after hitting 95 in the Championship opener against Yorkshire on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old former Derbyshire man joined the county champions from Somerset at the end of 2008 after spending nine years at Taunton.
"I wanted to make an early impression," he told BBC Newcastle.
"I'm very pleased with a couple of big scores and hopefully I can continue that for the rest of the season."
Blackwell also hit a century in the annual season opener against the MCC at Lord's, but after failing with the bat in Sunday's Friends Provident Trophy defeat to Yorkshire the left-hander said he is keen to improve his one-day record.
"I missed out on Sunday and in one-day cricket I want to get myself back in the frame in that competition as well."
