John Morris calls for swift Derbyshire response

Morris says his side must not over-react to the loss at Lord's

Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris said his side must prove their quality and character in their next fixture after the heavy loss against Middlesex.

Derbyshire lost by an innings and 35 runs inside three days at Lord's but Morris is already looking at Monday's county game against Worcestershire.

"We haven't played very well and we know why we lost but the atmosphere is good," Morris told BBC Radio Derby.

"It's how we bounce back that counts. We've had a bad game but it happens."

Derbyshire were bowled out for 196 in their first innings but Morris feels they were still very much in the game until a stand of 202 between Neil Dexter and Gareth Berg effectively ended their hopes of a victory.

"We batted relatively well on the first day and had them 126 for five but two guys came in and did very well and both got hundreds and put us under the cosh," Morris said.
