Derbyshire director of cricket John Morris has admitted the uncertainty over the future of two of his recent big name signings is frustrating. Morris risks losing batsmen Mahela Jayawardene and Wavell Hinds to the Indian Premier League and the Indian Cricket League respectively. "It's nothing other than money that is dictating what is going on here," Morris told BBC Radio Derby. "We cannot compete with the amount of money in both the IPL and the ICL." With an Asian Cup tournament likely to be played in July, that would rule Jayawardene out for most of the season. "I have spoken to Jayawardene and he is quite apologetic about what's happened, but it's out of his hands and it's out of my hands," said Morris. Kolpak batsman Hinds has signed with the rebel Indian Cricket League which may lead to a ban by the England and Wales Cricket Board. The ICL has not been recognised by the International Cricket Council, and the ECB has brought its stance into line with other national bodies by banning ICL players from their domestic leagues.
