Young seam bowler Jon Clare will be offered a new contract by Derbyshire for 2008 after impressing in his recent debut against Nottinghamshire. The 21-year-old from Burnley took 5-90 and was one of the few bright spots in the defeat by an innings and six runs.
Head of cricket John Morris said: "He is a young cricketer who can improve.
"He has bowled himself into a contract if he wants it. His smile when I told him I was going to offer him a contract said it all - he wants to be here."
