Kyle Hogg faced 111 balls for his 81, hitting 11 fours and a six
Kyle Hogg hit 81 as Lancashire's lower order gave them control over Hampshire on day two at Liverpool.
Hogg shared partnerships of 89 with Sajid Mahmood (47) and 54 with last man Gary Keedy to help Lancashire reach a total of 398 all out.
Gareth Cross (44) and Tom Smith (31) also weighed in as the hosts claimed a first-innings lead of 238.
Openers Michael Carberry and Jimmy Adams then negotiated seven overs before stumps to leave Hampshire 15-0.
Resuming on 124-2 in reply to Hampshire's 160 all out, Lancashire saw Mark Chilton (48) and Steven Croft edge behind off James Tomlinson and Chris Wood respectively and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (38) run out by Carberry's direct hit to slip to 144-5.
But they were moved into the lead by a sixth-wicket stand of 75 between Cross and Smith, only for both men to fall in quick succession to Wood (3-85).
Mahmood and Hogg built on the lead, with Mahmood passing 500 runs for the season before he was trapped lbw to become just the eighth first-class victim of Neil McKenzie's career.
Hogg ploughed on, adding 84 runs for the last two wickets with Glen Chapple (19) and Keedy (12 not out), only to hole out to long on off the left-arm spin of Danny Briggs.
