Heavy rain washed out the second day of Derbyshire's County Championship clash with Middlesex at Derby.

Overnight rain mean no play was possible before lunch, while further morning showers left the County Ground outfield saturated.

Umpires Neil Mallender and Stephen Gale decided there was no chance of conditions improving and abandoned play for the day at 1330 BST.

Middlesex will resume on Friday on 228-3, Scott Newman unbeaten on 119.
