Ramprakash hit 35 fours and a six in his 350-ball 248

Mark Ramprakash hit his 12th double century for Surrey before Northants collapsed as the home side took firm control on day two at The Oval.

After the hosts resumed on 430-5, Ramprakash (248) and Matt Spriegel (103) helped them to 620-7 declared.

In reply, Northants looked to be well placed at 94-1.

But three wickets from Gareth Batty and two from Chris Tremlett came as the visitors lost six for 66 runs to close on 174-8, 446 behind.
