Seventeen wickets fell on the second day at Grace Road as Glamorgan's bowlers hauled them back into contention against Leicestershire.

Resuming on 263-8, the hosts were bowled out for 291 with Andrew McDonald moving from his overnight 86 to 113.

Leicestershire captain Matthew Hoggard then picked up 4-32 as the visitors were bundled out for just 166.

But the hosts struggled in their second innings, slipping to 45-5 at the close, a lead of 170.

McDonald reached his century when he edged Will Owen to fine leg and struck two more fours before being caught behind off David Harrison, with the same bowler accounting for Harry Gurney to end Leicestershire's first innings.

Glamorgan openers Gareth Rees and Mark Cosgrove then added 41 for the first wicket - the highest partnership of the day - before Leicestershire made the most of prodigious swing and some variable bounce to turn the innings into little than a procession.

The hosts looked to be in good shape with a first-innings lead of 125, but their top order fell apart in their second innings as Matt Boyce, Paul Nixon, Tom New and McDonald fell in the space of two overs to Harrison (2-11) and James Harris (2-15).

Jim Allenby then trapped Josh Cobb lbw before the close to leave the game finely balanced.

Leicestershire were also hit by the news that McDonald has been called into the Australia A side to play Sri Lanka and will miss 10 Twenty20 games and the County Championship clash with Worcestershire.
