Nixon hit 13 fours in his 178-ball 90

Leicestershire have veteran Paul Nixon and Australian all-rounder Andrew McDonald to thank for carrying them to 263-8 on day one against Glamorgan.

Nixon (90) shared a first-wicket stand of 94 with Matt Boyce, but two wickets from James Harris (3-62) helped reduce the hosts to 104-3.

McDonald (86 not out) then arrived to add 57 for the fifth wicket with Nixon.

But when the former England man fell, the hosts lost four wickets for 57, leaving McDonald to see them to stumps.
