LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, New Road: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY TWO: Worcestershire 559-8, Derbyshire 138-6 Worcs 7pts, Derbys 2pts Match scorecard
Kervezee's maiden century included 15 fours and three sixes
Alexei Kervezee hit his maiden first-class century as Worcestershire continued to dominate on day two against Derbyshire at New Road.
Starting the day on 66, Kervezee made 130 off 175 balls before being caught by Robin Peterson off Tom Lungley.
The hosts, 376-3 overnight, declared on 559-8 with Derbyshire left struggling at the end of play on 138-6.
Richard Jones caused the most damage, taking three wickets, including Paul Borrington for a duck.
Chris Rogers (50) was the only visiting batsman to hit more than 20 runs before Robin Peterson produced a late fightback to end the day on an unbeaten 34.
But the visitors will have an uphill struggle to avoid the follow-on as they must reach 410 to do so with just four wickets remaining.
Netherlands international Kervezee's century beat his previous high score of 99, which he had claimed against Leicestershire last week.
And the 20-year-old was able to share his joy with his Rotterdam-based parents, who were sat in the crowd to see Worcestershire post the biggest total in Division Two this season.
Kervezee is the fourth Dutchman to hit a first-class century in English cricket, joining Roland Lefebvre (for Somerset), Bas Zuiderent (Sussex) and Ryan ten Doeschate (Essex).
