Glamorgan batsmen fight back against Gloucestershire
LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Cardiff: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY TWO: Gloucestershire 417 Glamorgan 257-3 Gloucestershire 5 pts, Glamorgan 4 pts Match scorecard
Wright hit a six and 10 fours in his unbeaten 77
Ben Wright and Jamie Dalrymple both hit half-centuries as Glamorgan made inroads into Gloucestershire's first-innings total on day two in Cardiff.
The visitors had resumed on 303-5 but saw Chris Taylor, Stephen Snell and Jon Lewis all pass 50 as they were eventually bowled out for 417.
Glamorgan were well placed to challenge that total at stumps, closing on 257-3, with Dalrymple out for 58.
But Wright is still there after hitting a six and 10 fours in his unbeaten 77.
Gloucestershire started the day better as Taylor (65) and Snell (71) made serene progress in reaching their half-centuries in 118 balls and 89 deliveries respectively.
But Jim Allenby then removed both, trapping Taylor leg before with his second ball before having Snell caught behind attempting to cut.
Lewis then chipped in with a 52-ball 50 before Robert Croft wrapped up the innings by grabbing the last two wickets to take his tally of first-class scalps for Glamorgan to 991.
Mark Cosgrove got Glamorgan's reply off to a typically fast start, clubbing seven fours before departing for 34 off 33 balls.
And after Dalrymple lost Gareth Rees, who was dropped on 27 by Snell at second slip off Stephen Ireland after tea, he and Wright put on 78 for the third wicket to bat their side into a strong position.
