Wayne White hit a maiden first-class century against his former county as Leicestershire built a match-winning lead on day three against Derbyshire.

Only a week after making a career-best 89 against Northants, the 24-year-old, Derby-born all-rounder completed an impressive, unbeaten 101.

That allowed new Leicestershire skipper Matthew Hoggard to declare on 330-8 half an hour before the close.

Set 403 to win, Derbyshire lost skipper Chris Rogers before the close on 13-1.

The Aussie opener was caught behind for a fourth ball duck to further embellish a day in which Leicestershire's young batsmen had performed with tremendous patience.

Backed by 90 from Matthew Boyce, White, in particular, did well against the county he joined last season, following four summers at Derby.

White hauled the balance of the game emphatically back in Leicestershire's favour after three quick wickets following lunch had threatened to undo much of their hard work.
