Gloucestershire will have to bat out all three sessions of the final day to avoid losing to Middlesex after ending on 55-3 in their second innings.

Chasing 351 to win, Gloucestershire lost Robert Woodman, Hamish Marshall and Alex Goodman before the close.

Middlesex began the day with a 132-run first-innings lead and added 273 before skipper Shaun Udal declared.

Openers Nick Compton (83) and Murali Kartik (57) added 128 to effectively put the match beyond the visitors.
