James Taylor's unbeaten 86 ensured Leicestershire regained control on the first day at Derby to reach 341-5. James Allenby had earlier missed out on his first Championship century in three years when he was run out for 96. Derbyshire seamer Ian Hunter (3-64) did some early damage with the ball for the home side as he and Graham Wagg restricted the visitors to 116-4. But Taylor and Allenby then put on 177 for the fifth wicket to swing the match back in Leicestershire's favour. Allenby's 96 included 11 fours and a six, and came from just 133 balls.
