COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Derby:
CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY ONE: Derbyshire v Leicestershire 341-5
Leics 3pts, Derbys 1pt
30 June-3 July 2009 (1100-1800 BST)

James Taylor
James Taylor's unbeaten 86 came off 200 balls and included eight fours.

James Taylor's unbeaten 86 ensured Leicestershire regained control on the first day at Derby to reach 341-5.

James Allenby had earlier missed out on his first Championship century in three years when he was run out for 96.

Derbyshire seamer Ian Hunter (3-64) did some early damage with the ball for the home side as he and Graham Wagg restricted the visitors to 116-4.

But Taylor and Allenby then put on 177 for the fifth wicket to swing the match back in Leicestershire's favour.

Allenby's 96 included 11 fours and a six, and came from just 133 balls.
