Cosgrove's 3-30 were his best bowling figures for Glamorgan

Robert Croft and Mark Cosgrove both took three wickets as Glamorgan edged day one of their County Championship clash with Derbyshire at Derby.

Croft removed Graham Wagg and Tom Lungley off successive balls on his way to figures of 3-58.

And Cosgrove (3-30) claimed the key wickets of captain Chris Rogers and Wavell Hinds as Derbyshire made 260-9.

Garry Park top scored for the home side with 76, his fourth successive County Championship half-century.

Stephen Stubbings (43) helped give Derbyshire a good start before becoming Croft's first victim, but no other home batsman passed 30 as they faltered.

Derbyshire captain Rogers was dropped in the slips by Michael Powell on 23 but he added only four more runs before he became the first of Cosgrove's three victims.

Park narrowly escaped on eight when a shot dissected first and second slip before he went on to build a partnership of 73 with Stubbings, ending as Croft trapped Stubbings lbw.

606: DEBATE

Dan Redfern was caught at first slip off Shantry but Powell was again the villain when he put down Hinds on just five.

Dean Cosker broke up a promising partnership between Park and Hinds when he had Park caught at deep square leg by Garnet Kruger.

Hinds then fell lbw to Croft on 30 and Greg Smith dragged onto his stumps before Croft had Wagg stumped by Mark Wallace and trapped Lungley lbw off the very next ball.

The new ball did for James Pipe as he lost his middle stump to Kruger, but in the face of a strong fielding display from the visitors Derbyshire managed to salvage a second batting point through Tim Groenwald and Ian Hunter.
