Andrew Gale hit a Twenty20 Cup best 91 to lead Yorkshire to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire.

Gale hit two sixes and 12 fours in his 55-ball innings at Headingley.

And he shared a county record Twenty20 stand of 129 with Michael Vaughan (41no) as the Tykes reached their target of 156 with two overs to spare.

Adam Voges' unbeaten 82 had earlier helped Nottinghamshire to 155-6, but their hopes of a big total were undone by Naved ul-Hasan taking 4-23.

It was the second time in three innings that the 25-year-old Gale had hit a personal best in Twenty20 cricket, having made an unbeaten 79 to lead Yorkshire to an eight-wicket win over Derbyshire on Sunday.

His stand with Vaughan beat Yorkshire's previous best partnership in the competition of 124 set by Ian Harvey and Phil Jacques against Derbyshire in 2005

But it proved a second straight night of disappointment for Notts, following Wednesday's crushing 70-run defeat to Leicestershire at Grace Road.

It left them marooned at the bottom of the North Division, while Yorkshire remain second, four points behind leaders Lancashire going into the competition's 18-day break.
