Northants made it five wins out of five in this season's Twenty20 Cup with victory by 10 runs over Gloucestershire at Bristol. Jon Lewis (4-37) and Steve Kirby (3-29) used their experience as Northants were bowled out for 162, Ian Harvey top-scoring with 48. Hamish Marshall got Gloucestershire off to a flier with 42 off 28 balls. But despite 40 from captain Alex Gidman they lost six wickets for 40 runs and eventually closed on 152-7. Northants' victory, coupled with Somerset's defeat at Worcestershire, increased their lead at the top of the Midlands/Wales/West division to four points. Gloucestershire remain rooted to the bottom of the table, with only one win from their opening five matches.
