TWENTY20 CUP, MID/WEST/WALES DIVISION, Bristol: Worcestershire 188-5 beat Gloucestershire 175-8 by 13 runs(Glos 0 pts Worcs 2pts)
Gidman hit one six and five fours in his 50-ball 64 |
Captain Alex Gidman hit an impressive 64 but could not prevent Gloucestershire going down to a 13-run Twenty20 Cup defeat to Worcestershire. Vikram Solanki (51) and Steven Davies (50) shared a quick 102 for the first wicket and Ben Smith made a 20-ball 41 to help Worcs to 188-5 at Bristol. Despite a good start, Gloucestershire slowed once they had lost Gidman and Hamish Marshall (41). And they could only manage 175-8 to suffer their third Twenty20 defeat. Gloucestershire remain bottom of the Mid/West/Wales Division, while Worcestershire's second win leaves them fourth.
Worcestershire's director of cricket Steve Rhodes told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "If we are looking at improving again, then we missed some chances in the field which we have got to put right. "It's nice to win when you miss chances but we'll get that right. "If we get all three departments firing then we could get on a very good run in this competition."
