Ryan McLaren shared 39 for the third wicket with Martin van Jaarsveld |
Holders Middlesex suffered their second Twenty20 Cup defeat to Kent in the space of three nights, losing by four wickets at Canterbury. After a 62-run loss at Lord's on Wednesday, Middlesex struggled to 104-6 after winning the toss. The hosts were in trouble at 6-2 when Alan Richardson (3-29) removed openers Joe Denly and skipper Rob Key. But Ryan McLaren (31) steadied the ship as Kent got home in the 19th over for the loss of six wickets. The result is Middlesex's third defeat in as many matches in this year's competition, to leave them with little hope of retaining their title, while Kent are undefeated with two wins and one no result.
