Trescothick hit 144 in his previous FP Trophy innings against Scotland

Rain forced Somerset's FP Trophy clash against Warwickshire to be abandoned, with Marcus Trescothick only 16 short of a century at Taunton.

The former England batsman smashed 13 fours in his 84 not out off 69 balls as Somerset raced to 135-2 in 22 overs.

But after spinner Ant Botha bowled James Hildreth for 32 the rain started and the game was eventually abandoned by the umpires in mid-afternoon.

The result moved Somerset three points clear at the top of Group B.
