Jade Dernbach took three wickets in eight balls to lead Surrey's fightback on day one against Gloucestershire.

Dernbach (3-73) struck with the second new ball as Surrey took six wickets in the final session to leave the visitors 321-8 at the close.

Earlier Kadeer Ali (90) shared century partnerships with Hamish Marshall (76) and captain Alex Gidman (69).

James Benning (2-25) removed Ali and Gidman and Andre Nel (3-46) bowled Marshall before Dernbach intervened.
