Ramprakash reached the landmark of 100 career centuries this season |
Surrey batsman Mark Ramprakash will be suspended for the first two matches of the 2009 County Championship season. The 39-year-old was punished after he "repeatedly swore at one of the match umpires" in a game against Sussex in August in which he was acting captain. The charge was brought against him by the England and Wales Cricket Board and Ramprakash pleaded guilty at a hearing at Lord's on Monday. Ramprakash has also been fined 1,500 and told to pay 1,000 in costs. | 606: DEBATE | An ECB statement said: "In imposing this penalty, the panel took into account that Ramprakash was captain at the time of the incident, his previous good character, and the facts that he was contrite, had unreservedly apologised to the umpires and had already been fined 1,000 by Surrey."
