Middlesex reached the Pro ARCH Trophy final with victory over Surrey, whose hopes of winning the United Arab Emirates tournament are now over. Batsman Scott Newman hit 56 as Surrey posted a disappointing 184-9 in Sharjah and Middlesex ground out a two-wicket victory in the final over. Newman told BBC London 94.9: "I don't think we've had a better pre-season than this really. "The facilities have been brilliant. The stadiums have been really good." He added: "All in all the 12 days have been hard work. There's not been much time to rest. I couldn't ask for more really." Surrey next play Lancashire or Sussex in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday at 1000 GMT in a fifth v sixth play-off game as Middlesex prepare for their final on Wednesday.
