COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP Division Two, Derby (day two, stumps): Derbyshire 188 & 193-4 v Gloucestershire 222
Derbyshire skipper Chris Rogers led his side's fightback in their even contest against Gloucestershire. Gloucestershire, thanks largely to wicketkeeper Stephen Snell's 72, recovered from 121-7 to be bowled out for 222 - a lead of 34. Derbyshire were only 43 in front with two wickets down at tea but Rogers made 74 before Jon Lewis trapped him lbw as they finished on 193-4 at close. Dan Birch added 47 before being trapped lbw by Richard Dawson. Gloucestershire resumed day two on 90-6 with Snell and the tail holding off the Derbyshire attack until lunch. In that time Snell cruised to 72 off 127 balls before sweeping Wagg to deep midwicket where he was caught. Derbyshire made a poor start in response losing Paul Barrington early on, but Rogers and Birch added 71 in 18 overs. Rogers reached his half-century off 93 balls, which included 10 fours. After Birch and Rogers departed Greg Smith and Tom New continued to frustrate Gloucestershire with the pair adding 40 by stumps.
