Sussex forced to settle for draw

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP Division One, Old Trafford, day four: Lancashire 206 & 285 drew with Sussex 316 & 14-0
Points: Lancashire 8, Sussex 10

The final day of the Division One clash between Lancashire and Sussex was washed out without a ball bowled.

Sussex, who took 10 points out of the Old Trafford draw compared with Lancashire's eight, will be the more disappointed of the two sides.

They were in pole position to secure a three-day win at tea on Friday.

Lancashire were tottering on 181-8 in their second innings with a lead of just 71, before Glen Chapple and Dominic Cork put on 78.

Sussex, who leapfrog Lancashire by one point in the table, now have a week off while Lancashire face a Roses battle against Yorkshire at Old Trafford, starting on Tuesday.
