County Championship D2, Southend (day three, stumps): Glamorgan 139 & 347 beat Essex 206 & 78 by 202 runs
Robert Croft conjured a brilliant spell to bowl Glamorgan to a 202-run victory against Essex in Southend. The off-spinner took five wickets, conceding just six runs as Essex were skittled out for just 78 runs. Chasing 281 for victory, Essex were deep in trouble at 43-5 when Croft was introduced into the attack. He removed James Foster and Graham Napier with successive balls before dismissing last man Chris Wright for Glamorgan's second win of the season. It was Croft's first five-wicket haul of the summer and the 48th of his distinguished career. However, the early damage had been caused by seamers James Harris, Jason Gillespie and Adam Shantry as Essex's top order crumbled. England batsman Ravi Bopara was Essex's top scorer with 15.
