Worcestershire see off Glamorgan

County Championship D2, New Road, day four: Worcestershire 457-8 dec & 102-0 beat Glamorgan 279 & 279 by 10 wickets
Worcestershire 22 pts, Glamorgan 4

Stephen Moore and Daryl Mitchell shared their second century partnership of the game as Worcestershire cruised to a 10-wicket win over Glamorgan.

Set just 102 to win, Moore (57) and Mitchell (44) knocked off the runs to put Worcestershire second in the table.

Earlier, pace bowler Kabir Ali took 6-58 as Glamorgan were dismissed for 279 for the second time in the match.

But the Glamorgan tail fought hard with James Harris (43) and Jason Gillespie (49 not out) adding 79 together.

Their eighth-wicket stand eventually came to an end when Harris, who had been dropped at slip on 39, was caught low down by keeper Steven Davies off Matt Mason.

Once the breakthrough had been made, Worcestershire wasted no time in polishing off the rest of the tail with Kabir yorking David Harrison and having Dean Cosker caught behind to take his Championship tally to 30 wickets at a cost of only 20 runs each.

Faced with a small target, Moore and Mitchell were in relaxed mood, no doubt helped by the memory of their 109-run partnership on the opening day.

And although Glamorgan's bowlers kept things as tight as possible, the two openers collected 13 boundaries between them, plus a six over mid-on from Cosker's spin for Moore, who has attracted interest from five other clubs who are keen to recruit him for 2009.
