Twenty20 Cup, Northampton Northamptonshire 182-4 (20 overs) beat Worcestershire 149 all out (19.4 overs) by 33 runs
Hall's figures of 6-21 are some of the best Twenty20 has ever seen |
Andrew Hall recorded the third-best bowling figures in Twenty20 history as he inspired Northants to a comfortable victory over Worcestershire. Hall ended with spectacular figures of 6-21 from his 3.4 overs, after the all-rounder made an unbeaten 66 in his side's total of 182-4 at Wantage Road. Hall and Niall O'Brien (33) gave the hosts the perfect platform after Rob White departed for a second-ball duck. Ben Smith made 46 for Worcestershire, but Hall's bowling wrapped up the win. Chasing 183 to win, the Royals started slowly with Graeme Hick failing to trouble the scorers after getting out to Johannes van der Wath. Vikram Solanki took the fight to Northants, but he edged Hall to David Sales at first slip for 27. The flow of wickets stopped with Moeen Ali and Smith at the crease, but so did the boundaries as the scoring rate dipped for Worcestershire. Hall was in irresistible form with the ball as he rattled through the Worcestershire tail, removing Steven Davis, Gareth Andrew, Daryl Mitchell, Stephen Moore and Steve Magoffin in quick order to leave the visitors fell well short of their target.
