COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO Swalec Stadium (stumps, day three of four): Derbyshire 289 & 4-0 v Glamorgan 384
Charl Langeveldt produced a devastating spell of swing bowing to claim 5-22 in 6.5 overs to help Derbyshire fight back in a rain-affected game at Glamorgan. Even though only 29.5 overs were possible on the third day, with the afternoon and evening sessions washed out, the South African made his mark. Glamorgan resumed in a healthy position on 301-3, responding to Derbys' 289. But Langeveldt ripped through the lower order to bowl them out for 384, with the visitors reaching 4-0 before close. Umpires Vanburn Holder and Richard Illingworth called play off for the day at 1650 BST, but Langeveldt will have been happy with his day after bouncing back from poor figures of 16-2-78-0 on Thursday. The Kolpak player's fortunes began to change when he broke through Mark Wallace's defences. And only three overs later he was on a hat-trick after claiming two wickets with consecutive balls, first bowling Jamie Dalrymple and then having Robert Croft caught behind. At the other end Langeveldt was given good support by Jonathan Clare, who followed his 70 not out with the bat by bowling Jason Gillespie. But it was Langeveldt who mopped up the rest of the tail, bowling James Harris and having David Harrison caught at mid-off to wrap things up. That meant Derbyshire's openers Chris Rogers, the stand-in captain, and Steve Stubbings had to survive an over apiece from Harris and Croft before lunch - and then the rains came.
