COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO Swalec Stadium (Stumps, day two of four): Derbyshire 289 v Glamorgan 301-3
Gareth Rees and David Hemp clubbed centuries as Glamorgan moved into a healthy position after two days against Derbyshire at the new Swalec Stadium. By the close Glamorgan had reached 301 for three, a first-innings lead of 12,
with Hemp still there on 103. It was a confident performance from Rees (104) and Hemp, who tamed a Derbyshire attack without injured pair Rikki Clarke and Tom Lungley. The start of play was delayed until 1430 BST because of morning rain. But Glamorgan then showed positive intent as they resumed on 87-1, 202 runs behind Derbyshire's first innings score of 289 all out. Michael Powell also displayed some good form, and in the process of his innings passed 10,000 first-class runs. But just two short of his half-century he edged to first slip to give off-spinner Jake Needham (2-44) a wicket.
