LV County Championship D2, Northampton
Northants 369-8 v Glamorgan 280, (stumps, day two)
Robert Croft snared his 1,000th wicket in first-class cricket but it was not enough to spare Glamorgan's blushes as Northamptonshire took total control.
The hosts resumed the day on 61-0, 219 behind, and when Andrew Crook fell for 41 the visitors sensed an opening.
However, Stephen Peters (104) and Robert White (75) put on 124 for the second wicket to lead the fightback.
David Sales (78) was also impressive, meaning Croft (4-130) could not stop Northants reaching 369-8 by stumps.
His haul meant Croft became the first Welsh cricketer ever to claim 1,000 first-class wickets and score 10,000 runs when he trapped Niall O'Brien lbw for a duck.
But with Nortants 81 runs ahead with England international Monty Panesar (22 not out) and Richard Logan (one not out) still at the crease, they have their work cut out to gain what would be only their second championship win this season.
