His unbeaten 208 from 293 balls, with 27 fours and two sixes, gave Yorkshire a lead of 401 at the end of day two.
It cheered the home crowd after the disappointment of seeing debutant Inzamam-ul-Haq fall for eight, caught behind off James Anyon's bowling.
