Durham 474 v Warwickshire 239 & 256-1
Ian Westwood and Kumar Sangakkara led Warwickshire's fightback after Durham took a 235-run first innings lead in the Division One game at the Riverside.
Durham resumed on 378-6 and saw Ben Harmison reach his hundred before they were dismissed for 474.
When the visitors got their second innings under way they lost captain Darren Maddy for 16 to leave them 38-1.
But Westwood (116 not out) and Sri Lanka star Sangakkara (100 not out) saw them take a 21-run lead at the close.
Birmingham-born Westwood offered the only chance when he survived a straightforward catch to Paul Wiseman at first slip off Liam Plunkett on 101.
He completed his century off 186 balls with 11 fours and one six, while Sangakkara reached his century off 154 balls with 12 fours.
