County Championship D2, Northampton, day three (close): Northants 310 & 270 v Gloucestershire 250 & 119-4
Northamptonshire were on course for a third Championship win of the season after reducing Gloucestershire to 119-4 chasing 331 at stumps on day three.
Stephen Peters (92) and Usman Afzaal (72) took their stand to 153 before the hosts lost 9-86 to be all out for 270.
Spinners Chris Taylor (4-52) and Vikram Banerjee (3-103) did the damage as the last seven wickets fell for only 40.
But David Lucas took 3-26 and Monty Panesar got Alex Gidman (36) after he shared 80 with Hamish Marshall (47no).
Peters, who swept Taylor off one knee for a massive six, looked on course to reach three figures before Gidman's inswinger sent his middle-stump flying and Taylor found Afzaal's edge.
David Sales (22) was stumped charging down the track, Klusener was lbw for nine and Riki Wessels (22) was deceived by Banerjee's quicker ball.
Steven Crook drove Taylor straight to Grant Hodnett at long-off, Panesar completed his pair when he edged behind and Lucas also fell for a duck, while Carl Greenidge claimed the final wicket by trapping Johan van der Wath lbw for 15.
Gloucestershire still faced an uphill task and it became mountainous when Craig Spearman cut Lucas to point, Hodnett was caught behind and Kadeer Ali was trapped lbw.
England spinner Panesar was brought into the attack and ended the brave resistance of Gidman by having him plumb lbw on a turning wicket.
