White thrashed an unbeaten 100 and claimed four wickets for 35 runs to power Yorks to a Lord's meeting with Somerset on 31 August. Matthew Wood reached an unbeaten half century, as Surrey were brushed aside in a game that was postponed from Thursday after four days of rain.
England seamer Matthew Hoggard made an early breakthrough, trapping Ian Ward plumb in front for two, after Darren Lehmann had won the toss and elected to field. Hoggard and Chris Silverwood bowled accurately with the ball moving about, frustrating Surrey's attempts to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Frustration got the better of Ali Brown, who was caught at third man by Michael Lumb, after top-edging an attempted pull off Hoggard. Alec Stewart endured a torrid time, with the ball repeatedly beating his bat, before edging White behind. Mark Ramprakash kept Surrey's innings together with a fine 63 and put on 41 with Nadeem Shahid, who fell to a top-edged sweep in Darren Lehmann's first over. White continued to make inroads, trapping Adam Hollioake lbw and having Rikki Clarke caught behind for three.
Yorkshire were set a victory target of 167 in 42 overs under Duckworth-Lewis, but White and Wood made a mockery of Surrey's total. White was immediately into his stride, finding the middle of his bat to crash boundaries all over the ground and get Yorkshire off to a flying start. He reached his half century off 39 balls and posted his century with his 17th boundary to win the match, with his 100 coming off 78 deliveries, including a six and 16 fours. Wood got in on the act, hitting Clarke's first four deliveries for 4,4,6,4 and ended unbeaten on 55 off 69 balls, including a six and seven fours.
