Yorkshire win thriller
Darren Lehmann
Lehmann pummelled Somerset's bowlers for 104
Norwich Union League D1, Taunton: Yorkshire 307-4 beat Somerset (306-8) by one run

Darren Lehmann and Matthew Wood both blasted superb centuries as Yorkshire beat Somerset by a single run in a thrilling match at Taunton.

The home side nearly scraped home, but Steffan Jones could only manage to dab the last ball of the match from Ryan Sidebottom to third man for two with four runs needed.

Jamie Cox and Ian Blackwell bludgeoned half centuries in a 103-run third wicket partnership to put Somerset in a good position, but Yorkshire managed to take wickets at crucial moments.

Ian Blackwell
Blackwell nearly swung things Somerset's way
Yorkshire captain Lehmann set the tone by crashing two sixes and 11 fours in his 104 off just 74 balls.

Opener Wood was sedate in comparison, but carried his bat for 105, as the pair put on 170 for the third wicket and completely took the Somerset attack apart.

Yorkshire started well with Craig White and Wood adding 52 for the first wicket before Jones dismissed White and pinch-hitter Chris Silverwood.

But Lehmann snatched the advantage back with a barrage of shots, hammering his second 50 in just 27 balls, before he was bowled by Keith Dutch.

Gough blow

Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick fell lbw for a duck in the reply, but Cox put on 112 with Peter Bowler (53), who who holed out to mid-off.

Cox and Blackwell then set the ground alight with a barrage of shots before the Tasmanian was dismissed by White one short of his century, made in 83 balls including two sixes and eight fours.

Blackwell blazed on, hitting a huge six and nine fours in his 79 from just 54 balls, but was bowled around his legs by Silverwood.

Dutch tried his best to hold the tail together, but lost partners at regular intervals, and needed to be at the striker's end for the final ball.

The only bad news for Yorkshire was the continued absence of England strike bowler Darren Gough, who withdrew from the match with a knee injury.
