At Northampton: Northants 124-2 after 26.1 overs (2pts) beat Glamorgan 122 all out after 30.5 overs by eight wickets

Mal Loye scored a half-century as Northants made short work of Glamorgan in their Benson & Hedges Cup match at Cardiff.

Loye's 53 not out came from 72 deliveries as he led the visitors to victory by eight wickets with almost 24 overs remaining

Medium pacers Tony Pemberthy and Jeff Cook bagged three wickets each as Glamorgan were bowled out for 122 in just 30 overs.

Robert Croft top-scored for the Welsh side with 33, a whirlwind innings occupying just 24 balls with five boundaries.

And Matthew Maynard managed 32 before he was bowled by Cook, becoming the first of five wickets to fall for the addition of just 17 runs.

Northants lost pinch-hitting opener Graeme Swann early as they set off in pursuit.

But Loye joined skipper Mike Hussey in a stand worth 63, and David Sales added an unbeaten 23 to complete the job.
