Rottingdean CC captain Henry Ledden is hoping his team will not be over-awed when they play in the National Village Knock-Out Cup final at Lord's.

The Sussex side face Lancashire outfit Woodhouses on Sunday.

Ledden told BBC Sussex: "There's a bit of nervousness but also excitement. It's a dream come true.

"Playing at Lord's is the highpoint of anyone's career for an amateur or a professional. But during the game we've got to concentrate on winning."

Rottingdean, who were founded in 1758, have played eight games to make it through to the final in only their second year of entering the competition.

Ledden, 28, says the occasion will be a reward for the hard work put in to the club by all its members.

"It means a lot to everybody as everything is based on volunteers," he continued. "Some people have put in 30 years of work, and they can smile to see us at Lord's.

"We wouldn't be anywhere without all those volunteers.

"We've also had a lot of ex-members from around the world who've been wishing us luck."

Ledden believes a team effort will be key to have a change of lifting the trophy on Sunday.

"Throughout the whole competition, everyone has performed at some point and done something to help us win a game," he added.

"'I'm a firm believer that we have to concentrate on our own game and perform to the best of our own ability.

"But I don't want anyone to put pressure on themselves."
