Onions and Borthwick give Durham edge at Sussex

Scott Borthwick and Graham Onions took nine wickets between them as Durham dominated Sussex on the second day.

Michael Yardy (66) offered the only major resistance as Borthwick (5-80) and Onions (4-67) skittled the home team out for 218.

That gave Durham a first-innings lead of 154 and they piled more pressure on the home side with a solid start to their second innings.

Will Smith led the way with an unbeaten 54 as they closed on 93-0.

The only blemish for the visitors was opener Michael di Venuto having to retire hurt having scored just two runs.
