South Africa beat India by 48 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method to level the five-match ODI series at 2-2 after the game was abandoned because of rain.

South Africa did well to make 265-7 off 50 overs in Port Elizabeth after losing their first five wickets for 118 runs.

India were set a revised target of 260 after the first rain break and needed 123 from 87 balls, but at 142-6 off 32.5 overs the match was abandoned.

The result means the series will go to a decider on Sunday in Centurion.

JP Duminy hit an unbeaten 71 from 72 balls and provided the hosts with some much-needed stability after they threw away the good start provided by Hashim Amla, who was run out on 64.

South Africa lost four wickets for 12 runs at one stage, but Duminy's innings and a 44 from Johan Botha took them to 265-7.

606: DEBATE

Virat Kohli top-scored for India with 87 not out but the home bowlers, the pick of them being Lonwabo Tsotsobe (2-25), maintained the pressure on all the other batsmen as they took wickets at regular intervals.
