Cohen took 50 wickets this season |
Wem bowler Danny Cohen has won the Shropshire Premier League Young Player of the Year trophy, presented by BBC Radio Shropshire. The 17-year-old received a silver salver for his 50 wickets over the 2010 season, including a personal best 8-26 in one game against Trysull. "I only got 20-something last year, so I did better than I could have hoped," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "I'm grateful to [captain] Bryan Jones for his encouragement." Cohen's only disappointment was that Wem finished fourth in the Marston's Shropshire Premier League. The teenage bowler has now pledged to play his part in chasing the championship next season. "We're a progressive club going in the right direction," Cohen added. "Our aim next season is to get promotion to the Birmingham League."
