Norfolk recorded an impressive eight-wicket win over Berkshire in the Minor Counties Trophy. It was the defending champions' first victory in this year's competition after losing to Lincolnshire and having their match against Suffolk washed out. Norfolk bowled Berkshire out for 172 in the 50th over with Paul Bradshaw taking four wickets. The home side reached their target in the 37th over - Trevor Ward top-scoring with 92. Captain Carl Rogers also put in a good performance with the bat, ending up on 56 not out. Player/coach Chris Brown told BBC Radio Norfolk the batsmen deserved praise. He said: "Carl played more the anchor role and he played nicely for his score and never looked in any trouble. | If we get another victory, we could potentially win the group Norfolk player/coach Chris Brown |
"Trevor played very aggressively and scored his 92 very quickly so a win by eight wickets is a really pleasing performance." Norfolk's next match is against Cambridgeshire at Clare College on Sunday, 16 May. "That pitch is a really good surface and the lads are looking forward to playing there," said Brown. "If we get another victory, we could potentially win the group."
