Ireland's Boyd Rankin expects to be fit for the World Twenty20 |
Ireland's Boyd Rankin is recovering well from a foot injury and expects to be fit for the World Twenty20 in April. The 25-year-old pace bowler suffered a stress reaction in his right foot, forcing him to miss Ireland's tour of Sri Lanka and the Twenty20 qualifiers. Rankin plans to build up his bowling during Warwickshire's pre-season training in South Africa. Ireland play their first World Twenty20 game against hosts the West Indies on 30 April before facing England. "I will be fine for the West Indies. The foot is nearly fully healed now," said Rankin. Rankin has played 40 times for Ireland to date, since making his debut as a 19-year-old in 2003. He has taken 67 wickets at an average of 22.12, having a best bowling analysis of 5-39 against Namibia in 2008.
