In-form Wellington rose to third in the Birmingham League First Division with a two-wicket win over Stratford. Wendell Wagner took 4-16 as Stratford were limited to 116. Sean Clingeleffer then hit 47 as Wellington made 177-8 Tight bowling from Adam Shimmons (6-47) kept Old Hill down to 188, and Shifnal batted out for a draw (136-5). Up in the Premier Division, Shrewsbury stay clear of the relegation zone, despite their game at Walsall being completely rained off. In Division Two, St George's Hitshu Bachani took 4-33 as Old Elizabethans reached 136-9, but then former England international Richard Illingworth took 5-31 as St George's were teased out for 90. Whitchurch knocked county rivals Bridgnorth off the top of the Third Division as they had the better of it against Fordhouses. Simon Bowen hit an impressive 107 as Whitchurch reached 264-5, and Fordhouses were struggling on 149-6 when the rain came. Sam Whitney took 4-4 as Bridgnorth pinned Lichfield down to 95 all out - but the Shropshire side collapsed to a shock defeat when they were skittled out for just 75. Newport's relegation worries continued with a three-wicket defeat by Moseley Ashfield, despite Rajat Bhatia's unbeaten 111 in a total of 194-6. Bhatia then took bowling figures of 3-47, but Ashfield made their target in the final over. In the Shropshire Premier League, Oswestry returned to the top after a double set of weekend fixtures. A winning draw at Newtown on Sunday was enough, as Quatt - who had started the day at the head of the table, were rained off midway through their game at Shelton.
