Weather thwarts Lincs and Norfolk

Cricket

The opening day of the Minor Counties Championship match between Lincolnshire and Norfolk has been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy rain in Sleaford led to play being called off just before 1300 BST after an early lunch had been taken.

Ollie Burford will captain Lincolnshire for the first time, while Bill Kirby, Aaron Onyon and Charlie Hopkins come into the side.

Fast bowlers Sam Thelwell and Aaron Watson will make their Norfolk debuts.

Martyn Dobson, Rob Cook and Andy Carter missed out for Lincolnshire from the side that beat Cambridgeshire in the MCCA knockout trophy.

Lincolnshire are the defending Minor Counties Eastern Division champions, while Norfolk's last Championship win came against Lincolnshire in 2007.
