One of the cruellest dismissals in Ashes history, from an English perspective at least. Mike Atherton slips on the Lord's turf and is run out for 99, sent back by Mike Gatting after turning for a third run that would have brought him his century.

It was a terrible blow for Atherton and England, who slumped from 173 for 1 in their second innings to lose the Test by an innings and 62 runs.

Atherton scored 16 Test centuries but never one at Lord's.
